Turned Spoons

The Spoons on this page are created using thicker lumber then the sanded spoons.  A rough shape is cut out using a band saw.  The spoon blank is then placed in a device that I created to cut out the spoon bowl.  This makes the bowl a more consistent size and shape.  After cutting out the bowl, the blank is mounted on a wood lathe.  The handle is formed on the lathe.  The shape is determined by the wood to capture its beauty and create an ergonomic feel.  Each handle is unique to each spoon as I try not to duplicate any other spoon that I have made.  The handles are made thicker then the spoon that have no soul.  This allow for a stronger grip and reduces fatigue that can come from using a thinner handled spoon.
These spoons are ones that are for ideal for stirring large pots, serving, and are the perfect spoon for general kitchen use - just like the ones that are found in the kitchens of old.
The spoons below are made from Hard Maple and Cherry.

**  Most of the spoons on this page have sold.  Similar spoons are available.  See me at a show, or inquire by email.  Woods available are Cherry, Maple and Spalted Maple.
